Advancement Via Individual Determination
AVID is a college readiness system designed to increase the number of students who enroll and persist in four-year colleges. Waiakea High School offers AVID Elective courses for students in grades 10-12 taken during the school day. Students are selected to enroll in an AVID class after an application process. AVID Curriculum is used in the AVID Elective class, and AVID instructional strategies are also used in content-area classes.
